New features

1. Better subscriber engagement insights

We are on a mission to provide useful and actionable insights to podcasters about the performance and engagement of their broadcasts.

We already track the performance by way of the episode plays that are displayed on a podcast's Analytics page.

This release lays the groundwork for quantifying the listener engagement. **We now analyse each subscriber's listening activity and place them in one of the following groups:

The subscriber segmentation gives a powerful insight into the buildup of a podcast's listener base. It clearly indicated which subscribers are actively listening to the podcast, which ones are trailing off and which ones need to be (re-)invited to start listening.

This information is vital for e.g. deciding on the the type and intensity of the podcast promotional activities and gaining insights into the preferred episode format. It can also be used to identify subscribers that can be interviewed about their listening preferences.

2. Episode performance prediction

The first block that builds on top of the engagement breakdown is the new predicted plays metric: the number of plays we expect an episode to receive based on the number of active and disengaged subscribers.

In addition to being a single-glance indication of current level of engagement (more predicted plays means higher engagement) it can also be used to spot over- and underperforming episodes which in turn indicate an increase and decrease in engagement, respectively.

The expected plays are shown next to an episode's plays on the Analytics page.
